It began with just six words on ‘X’ on May 16, posted in frustration: “What if all cockroaches come together?” Few could have predicted that the post would ignite one of the most closely watched student-led protests, culminating in Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation and the government’s assurance on several key demands. The man behind those six words was Abhijeet Dipke, founder of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), who transformed an online outburst into a nationwide movement that mobilised thousands of students across the country.Dipke decided to make satire official by launching the CJP. On Saturday, Dharmendra Pradhan resigned as Union education minister, while the government also assured protesters that several of their demands would be addressed.
