The incident came amid death threats, doxxing attempts and threatening calls against the woman, who has sued Cornell University and others alleging she was raped at a fraternity house in 2024.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"2\"\/>According to a report by CNN, her lawyer, Thomas Giuffra, said police pointed guns at Doe\u2019s father, brother and boyfriend after responding to the bogus emergency call. The FBI is also looking into the incident.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"4\"\/>\u201cShe\u2019s scared,\u201d Giuffra said on Wednesday. \u201cI don\u2019t think she\u2019s in a good spot now.\u201d<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"6\"\/><\/p>\n<p><h2>Police swarm home after fake shooting call<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"8\"\/>Police were called to Doe\u2019s hometown at about 7pm Tuesday. The caller falsely claimed that a man had shot his mother and then his sister.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"12\"\/>An officer rushed to the family home believing there was an active shooter. He saw a car leaving the driveway and detained two men. They were later identified as Doe\u2019s brother and boyfriend.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"14\"\/>Doe\u2019s father then came out of the house.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"16\"\/>\u201cI\u2019m the dad. What\u2019s going on?\u201d he told police, according to the report.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"18\"\/>He also told officers that his daughter was the Jane Doe in the Cornell case. He said the family had been receiving threats.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"21\"\/>Giuffra said the incident could have turned deadly.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"23\"\/>\u201cLuckily the brother was in his car, (he) put his hands up,\u201d Giuffra said. \u201c(Doe\u2019s) boyfriend got thrown on the ground,\u201d and her father also had \u201cguns put in his face.\u201d<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"25\"\/>\u201cIf you had a trigger-happy cop, or somebody had done the wrong thing, somebody could have ended up dead,\u201d he said.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"27\"\/><\/p>\n<p><h2>Threats escalate after lawsuit<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"29\"\/>The swatting attack came after weeks of threats against Doe.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"31\"\/>Giuffra said his client has received dozens of threats since she filed her 101-page lawsuit in September.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"34\"\/>The lawsuit names Cornell, the Chi Phi fraternity, seven fraternity members and others. It alleges that fraternity members drugged and sexually assaulted Doe in October 2024.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"36\"\/>It also alleges that members invited others to join the assault through a group chat. The seven students deny wrongdoing.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"38\"\/>Doe\u2019s identity was redacted from the lawsuit. But online personalities have tried to uncover and publish her name.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"40\"\/>One person with a large following on X asked people to send him information identifying Doe. <!-- -->He later claimed he had identified her and said he posted the information before deleting it.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"44\"\/>Giuffra also said Doe received a text message on Monday containing three gun emojis.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"46\"\/><\/p>\n<p><h2>\u2018Otherwise blood will be shed\u2019<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"48\"\/>Doe received another threatening call shortly before police arrived at her home, according to her lawyer and police reports.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"50\"\/>She told officers she \u201cbegan panicking\u201d because her phone \u201cwouldn\u2019t stop ringing\u201d.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"52\"\/>Giuffra\u2019s wife also received a threatening call that night. <!-- -->It is unclear whether the calls were connected to the swatting attack.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"56\"\/>On Wednesday, Giuffra shared an audio recording with CNN of a call made to his office.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"58\"\/>A man identified himself as \u201cthe person who called your client\u201d.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"60\"\/>\u201cI\u2019m telling you guys simply, I think you should advise your client to withdraw the case. Otherwise blood will be shed.\u201d<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"62\"\/>Giuffra said Doe was now so frightened that she was covering the windows of her parents\u2019 home with paper.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"65\"\/>\u201cShe\u2019s scared,\u201d he said.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"67\"\/><\/p>\n<p><h2>Doe\u2019s life \u2018derailed\u2019<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"69\"\/>Doe had studied hotel administration at Cornell\u2019s Nolan School of Hotel Administration. Her lawyer said attending Cornell had been her dream.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"71\"\/>She left the programme without graduating after the alleged assault.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"73\"\/>Earlier this year, she moved to New York City and tried to build a career in the hotel industry. She returned to her parents\u2019 home after filing the lawsuit and facing intense public backlash.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"76\"\/>\u201cThe dream is lost,\u201d Giuffra said.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"78\"\/>Doe now spends most of her time at home. She goes for walks and remains in contact with some Cornell friends.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"80\"\/>\u201cShe\u2019s a little paranoid,\u201d Giuffra said. \u201cIf she\u2019s out of (the) safety zone of her family, she just doesn\u2019t seem to function well.\u201d<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"82\"\/>Her mother has taken time off work to care for her.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"84\"\/><\/p>\n<p><h2>Cornell faces growing anger<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"86\"\/>The case has also triggered protests at Cornell.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"88\"\/>Students held a seven-hour sit-in on Wednesday in solidarity with Doe. <!-- -->The university is facing scrutiny over its handling of her allegations.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"92\"\/>Cornell has appointed former acting US attorney general Sally Yates to investigate its handling of sexual assault claims.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"94\"\/>University president Michael Kotlikoff acknowledged the anger on campus during a meeting with the Graduate and Professional Student Assembly on Monday.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"97\"\/>\u201cWe\u2019re all angry.
