{"id":33949,"date":"2026-10-08T03:36:59","date_gmt":"2026-10-08T03:36:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/koshalsambada.in\/?p=33949"},"modified":"2026-10-08T03:36:59","modified_gmt":"2026-10-08T03:36:59","slug":"pakistans-terror-monsters-now-wreak-havoc-in-its-own-backyard-india-at-un-india-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/koshalsambada.in\/?p=33949","title":{"rendered":"Pakistan&#8217;s terror monsters now wreak havoc in its own backyard: India at UN | India News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"e9jwa\">\n<div class=\"vdo_embedd\">\n<div class=\"GfdvZ\">\n<section class=\"_bIDB  clearfix id-r-component leadmedia undefined undefined  E9tg9 \" style=\"top:0px\">\n<div class=\"_bIDB\" data-ua-type=\"1\" onclick=\"stpPgtnAndPrvntDefault(event)\">\n<div class=\"ypVvZ\">\n<div class=\"WGttI\"><img src=\"https:\/\/static.toiimg.com\/thumb\/msid-134779025,imgsize-725374,width-400,height-225,resizemode-4\/indias-first-secretary-at-un-raghoo-puri-ani.jpg\" alt=\"Pakistan's terror monsters now wreak havoc in its own backyard: India at UN\" title=\"\u2018You cannot run with the hares\u2019: India tears into Pakistan\u2019s terror record at UN\" decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\"\/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"Ta7d_ img_cptn\"><span title=\"\u2018You cannot run with the hares\u2019: India tears into Pakistan\u2019s terror record at UN\">\u2018You cannot run with the hares\u2019: India tears into Pakistan\u2019s terror record at UN<\/span><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"0\"\/>NEW DELHI: India used the UN stage to turn Pakistan\u2019s own words against it, arguing that the terror networks Islamabad once nurtured have now come back to haunt their own backyard, a reality, New Delhi said, that even Pakistan\u2019s leaders have begun to acknowledge.<!-- --> India also urged the international community to take stronger action against states accused of sponsoring terrorism.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"4\"\/>Speaking at the UN General Assembly\u2019s Sixth Committee, which deals with legal affairs, India\u2019s first secretary Raghoo Puri said Pakistan had long portrayed itself as both a victim and a frontline state in the fight against terrorism.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"6\"\/>&#8220;Pakistan has presented itself as a frontline state in combating terrorism and as a victim, while masking the fact that the Frankenstein\u2019s (monster) the Pakistani state has created and lost control over have moved from wreaking havoc in neighbouring countries to doing the same in Pakistan,&#8221; Puri said on Wednesday.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"10\"\/>&#8220;This was exposed recently by a provincial chief minister of Pakistan, and may I jog the memory of colleagues to an interview in 2018 by her father and former prime minister of Pakistan, exposing this dark secret,&#8221; he said.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"12\"\/>&#8220;You cannot run with the hares and hunt with the hounds,&#8221; Puri warned. &#8220;Reality never works like that&#8221;.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"14\"\/>Puri was responding to remarks by Pakistan\u2019s deputy Permanent Representative Usman Jadoon, who had launched an attack on India during the committee proceedings.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"17\"\/><\/p>\n<p><h2><b>Pakistan\u2019s own leaders expose terror threat<\/b><\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"19\"\/>Puri pointed to recent remarks by Punjab chief minister <a href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/topic\/maryam-nawaz\" styleobj=\"[object Object]\" class=\"\" commonstate=\"[object Object]\" frmappuse=\"1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Maryam Nawaz<\/a>, who said her province faced a bigger threat from neighbouring Pakistani provinces than from neighbouring countries.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"23\"\/>Maryam Nawaz, who leads Pakistan\u2019s Punjab province, said last month in Lahore: &#8220;Unfortunately, the threat Punjab, a province of 130 million, faces comes less from my neighbouring countries and more from my neighbouring provinces.&#8221;<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"25\"\/>Earlier this month, she also questioned the idea of distinguishing between different forms of extremist violence, saying anyone involved in terrorism should be treated as a terrorist regardless of their political motives.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"28\"\/>Puri also referred to an interview given by Maryam Nawaz\u2019s father, former Pakistan prime minister Nawaz Sharif, to Dawn in 2018. Sharif had spoken about militant groups operating from Pakistan and questioned whether they should be allowed to cross the border and carry out attacks in India.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"30\"\/>&#8220;Militant organisations are active. Call them non-state actors; should we allow them to cross the border and kill 150 people in Mumbai?&#8221; he had said.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"33\"\/>Puri did not name either Maryam Nawaz or Nawaz Sharif while making his remarks.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"35\"\/><\/p>\n<p><h2><b>\u2018Bombed-out airfields\u2019 are not victory<\/b><\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"37\"\/>Puri also hit back at Pakistan\u2019s claims about the outcome of <a href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/topic\/operation-sindoor\" styleobj=\"[object Object]\" class=\"\" commonstate=\"[object Object]\" frmappuse=\"1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Operation Sindoor<\/a>, India\u2019s counterterror military action to the Pahalgam attack.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"41\"\/>&#8220;If bombed-out airfields and cratered runways look like victory to Pakistan, they are, of course, welcome to enjoy it,&#8221; he said.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"43\"\/>He accused Pakistan of continuing to spread false claims about the operation and said its approach was part of a wider campaign of disinformation.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"46\"\/>Puri said the &#8220;Pakistani representative\u2019s desperation to falsely tout the Pakistani military\u2019s narrative on the outcome of Operation Sindoor&#8221; was consistent with Pakistan\u2019s long-running use of state-backed misinformation and psychological warfare.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"48\"\/><\/p>\n<p><h2><b>&#8216;Circular economy of words&#8217;<\/b><\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"50\"\/>Puri also took a swipe at Pakistan after its delegation made a second intervention, repeating what he described as old arguments.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"52\"\/>&#8220;Pakistan believes in the circular economy of words and narratives,&#8221; Puri said.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"55\"\/>&#8220;If this much effort had actually been made in countering terrorism rather than narrative building, misinformation, and disinformation, the world would have been a better place,&#8221; he said.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"57\"\/>&#8220;But nothing more can be expected from a Form 47 government,&#8221; he added, referring to Pakistan\u2019s political system and alleged manipulation of the electoral process.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"59\"\/>Puri also challenged Pakistan\u2019s claims on minority rights and accused Islamabad of allowing religious extremism to flourish.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"62\"\/><\/p>\n<p><h2><b>\u2018The victims in Pahalgam were not asked about their political orientation\u2019<\/b><\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"64\"\/>&#8220;The victims in Pahalgam were not asked about their political orientation; they were asked about their religion,&#8221; Puri said.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"66\"\/>&#8220;It is therefore deeply ironic that Pakistan speaks of combating religious hatred while allowing the conditions that enable it to persist and thrive, especially by fomenting cross-border terrorism,&#8221; he added.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"68\"\/>Puri referred to the Pahalgam terror attack, in which terrorists targeted tourists after asking about their religion.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"71\"\/>He said the attack showed the consequences of allowing extremist groups and crossborder terrorism to continue.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"73\"\/><\/p>\n<p><h2><b>India raises <keyword id=\"28915263\" type=\"Denny\" weightage=\"20\" keywordseo=\"Masood-Azhar\" source=\"keywords\" solralias.seotitle=\"masood-azhar\" solralias.msid=\"121024376\" solralias.title=\"Masood Azhar\">Masood Azhar<\/keyword> issue<\/b><\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"75\"\/>Puri also questioned Pakistan\u2019s claims that it was taking action against Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar, who is listed by the UN as a terrorist.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"77\"\/>Pakistan had increased the reward for information leading to Azhar\u2019s arrest from Pakistani rupees 50 lakh to 70 lakh.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"79\"\/>&#8220;Pakistan glosses over its state support for terrorism by announcing enhanced rewards for apprehending UN-listed head of Jaish-e-Mohammed, terrorist and mastermind of several attacks against my country,&#8221; Puri said.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"82\"\/>&#8220;When the media can reach Masood Azhar and get confirmation from him about the success of Operation Sindoor, surely the Pakistani state knows his whereabouts,&#8221; he said.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"84\"\/>Azhar had earlier appeared in a video in which he claimed that his family infrastructure had been destroyed during India\u2019s strikes on Bahawalpur as part of Operation Sindoor.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"86\"\/>Puri also recalled Pakistan\u2019s earlier claims that Jaish-e-Mohammed was no longer active.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"89\"\/>&#8220;Just a few months ago, Pakistani representatives used this forum to call the Jaish-e-Mohammed a defunct organisation,&#8221; Puri said. &#8220;The world has seen the script play earlier, and we are clear-eyed that this time also it is going to be no different.&#8221;<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"91\"\/><\/p>\n<p><h2><b>India invokes 9\/11, 26\/11 and Pahalgam<\/b><\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"93\"\/>Puri warned that allowing terrorist groups to operate with political protection could undermine international efforts against terrorism.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"95\"\/>&#8220;When terrorist groups are allowed to operate under state political power, international commitments become meaningless, and when perpetrators are provided safe havens, the victims of terrorism are denied justice,&#8221; he said.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"98\"\/>He also cited the example of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, who was found in Abbottabad, Pakistan, years after the 9\/11 attacks.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"100\"\/>&#8220;The world has not forgotten 9\/11, and where its financial support to terrorism, as also, the FATF plenary meeting coming up soon,&#8221; he said.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"112\"\/>The FATF, the global body that monitors terror financing and money laundering, is scheduled to hold its next plenary meeting in Paris from October 26 to 30.<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a
