We hope this clarification will contribute to a better understanding of the circumstances and allow everyone involved to move forward respectfully,\u201d it added.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"11\"\/>The statement comes days after female employees at the Eiffel Tower alleged that they were excluded during a private visit by a BAPS delegation. The allegations led staff to go on strike, following which the Eiffel Tower was closed for a day.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"15\"\/><span class=\"strong\" data-ua-type=\"1\" onclick=\"stpPgtnAndPrvntDefault(event)\">What the probe found<\/span><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"17\"\/>An investigation by the General Inspectorate of the City of Paris found that there had been \u201cno explicit request\u201d from BAPS regarding the removal of female staff.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"19\"\/>\u201cThe initial request brought to the attention of SETE concerned the lack of physical contact between religious figures and women,\u201d the investigation report said.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"22\"\/>According to the report, employees working at the reception and in customer relations were asked to temporarily leave \u201cduring the ascent of part of the delegation to the North pillar\u201d.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"24\"\/>A cleaning service provider\u2019s employee was then asked to wait until her break, while another female employee was replaced in an elevator during the group\u2019s descent. These actions eventually resulted in female staff being sidelined, according to the report accessed by Le Parisien.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"27\"\/>The City of Paris\u2019s Inspector General attributed the incident to \u201can internal process in which a requirement for no contact was progressively translated into the assignment of male staff to various positions, and then extended in its implementation to the point of dismissing or replacing female employees already in place\u201d.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"30\"\/>\u201cThrough word of mouth, the message was distorted,\u201d the probe found.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"32\"\/><span class=\"strong\" data-ua-type=\"1\" onclick=\"stpPgtnAndPrvntDefault(event)\">Eiffel Tower chief to step down<\/span><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"34\"\/>Meanwhile, the operating firm that runs the Eiffel Tower confirmed that its director general, Patrick Branco Ruivo, will step down by the end of the year.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"37\"\/>Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 d\u2019Exploitation de la tour Eiffel (SETE) said Ruivo would leave his post after an internal investigation found that \u201coperational flaws and shortcomings\u201d in the organisation of the visit had led to female staff being removed from their positions, AFP reported.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"39\"\/>SETE said in a statement that the failures resulted \u201cin female staff being excluded from the visit that day, an unacceptable
