<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\nThe US Army Reserve is examining whether it can provide military police, medical personnel and other support units to US southern command within the next four months, as the US steps up military planning linked to potential action against Cuba.According to an internal Army message reviewed by CBS News, the Army Reserve is seeking the possible availability of six types of formations, including logistics, engineering, medical and military police units, which could be needed within 90 to 120 days.The message itself does not mention Cuba, but multiple US officials told CBS News that the request is part of continued military planning focused on the island.The formations being assessed include a combat sustainment support battalion for logistics such as transportation, maintenance, fuel and supplies; an engineer battalion; and an expeditionary sustainment command to oversee logistics across a theatre of operations, CBS News reported.The Army Reserve message also seeks a medical brigade, a forward resuscitative and surgical detachment for emergency surgery and trauma care, and a military police brigade responsible for functions including security, detention and law enforcement.The document reviewed by CBS News does not specify how many troops could be required, where they might be deployed or what operation they would support.The US southern command, when asked about the planning, said it does not disclose details about US operational movements or potential deployment timelines. On September 17, the US state separtment announced sanctions on 11 Cuban entities and individuals, including state-run enterprises linked to Cuba’s nickel industry and military organisations involved in research, weapons systems and naval capabilities.The pressure has also extended to Cuba’s access to energy. Reuters reported earlier this month that Cuban foreign minister Bruno Rodriguez said the US measures had severely affected fuel supplies and contributed to prolonged power outages across the island.
