<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\nThe longtime Los Angeles home of late NBA player Jason Collins has been listed for $3.75 million, months after the former basketball star died from glioblastoma at age 47. Collins lived in the Brentwood-area property from 2004 until his death in May, making it his home through more than two decades of his personal life and NBA career.Collins purchased the house for $2.39 million, according to PropertyShark records. The property is now being sold by a relative of the former NBA center, while Coldwell Banker Realty agent Tania Ferris brought the home to market earlier this month.<\/p>\n \u201cJason Collins loved and called this beautiful property his home for more than 22 years and through the defining chapters of his life and career,\u201d Ferris said, according to Mansion Global.The home on Promontory Road is located roughly 30 minutes south of Collins\u2019 childhood neighborhood of Northridge. It sits within MountainGate, a guard-gated country club community nestled in the Santa Monica Mountains.Ferris said the community was particularly suited to Collins, offering privacy and security along with hiking trails, a community pool and spa, landscaped common areas and optional access to MountainGate Country Club\u2019s golf, tennis and social amenities.<\/p>\n Collins spent 13 seasons in the NBA, with his longest stint coming with the New Jersey Nets, where he played his first seven seasons.In 2013, Collins became the first active male athlete in one of the four major North American professional sports leagues to publicly come out as gay when he announced his sexuality in a Sports Illustrated cover story.He returned to the Nets in 2014, by then based in Brooklyn, for the final season of his career. His return made him the first publicly gay athlete to play in any of North America\u2019s four major professional sports leagues.That same year, Collins was named one of Time magazine\u2019s 100 Most Influential People.<\/p>\n Built in 1989, the red-tile-roof residence spans just over 5,000 square feet. The main level features two double-height living rooms, each with a fireplace. One has a dining nook, while glass doors in the other open directly toward the pool area.The home also includes a formal dining room and a spacious kitchen with an island, bar seating and an additional dining area.All four bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms.
