<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\nNEW DELHI: India added five medals on Wednesday as Mirabai Chanu ended her long wait for an Asian Games medal with a silver in weightlifting, while the men\u2019s and women\u2019s skeet teams, Jay Meena and the men\u2019s badminton team won bronze medals.India\u2019s overall tally now stands at 12 medals – one gold, five silver and six bronze. India\u2019s lone gold has come from the women\u2019s cricket team, which retained its Asian Games title on Tuesday.<\/p>\n Mirabai Chanu finally won her maiden Asian Games medal after finishing second in the women\u2019s 49kg weightlifting event. The Olympic silver medallist lifted a total of 198kg (87kg in Snatch and 111kg in Clean & Jerk) to win silver.The medal ended India\u2019s 28-year wait for a weightlifting medal at the Asian Games. Karnam Malleswari was the last Indian weightlifter to win an Asiad medal, taking silver in 1998.<\/p>\n India also won two bronze medals in shooting, with both the men\u2019s and women\u2019s skeet teams finishing third. The women\u2019s team of Raiza Dhillon, Maheshwari Chauhan and Parinaaz Dhaliwal scored 331 points to finish behind China and Kazakhstan.In the men\u2019s event, Anantjeet Singh Naruka, Mairaj Ahmad Khan and Bhavtegh Singh Gill combined for 346 points to claim bronze.These two medals took India\u2019s shooting tally to seven medals so far.<\/p>\n Jay Meena also won a historic bronze medal in men\u2019s singles soft tennis. The medal was India\u2019s first in soft tennis at the Asian Games. Meena had returned to the Games after going without a medal in his previous two appearances.<\/p>\n India\u2019s men\u2019s badminton team also finished with a bronze medal after losing 1-3 to China in the semifinal.
