The woman\u2019s body was sent for postmortem. A forensic team, led by CO Desh Deepak Singh, inspected the spot and collected evidence.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"6\"\/>The body was found along the roadside near the sugarcane field of Dhyanpal Singh, a resident of Gohawar Jait, on the route connecting the Ramganga feeder canal to Roshanpur village.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"10\"\/>Around 7am, villagers passing through the area spotted the partially burnt body and the crying child and alerted police.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"12\"\/>Noorpur SHO Parvez Kumar reached the spot with police personnel and conducted an initial inspection.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"14\"\/>Police suspect that the woman may have been strangled at another location and that her body was subsequently brought to the field and set on fire in an apparent attempt to conceal her identity and destroy evidence.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"18\"\/>Police questioned local residents, but the woman\u2019s identity could not be established immediately. Teams are checking missing-person reports registered at police stations in neighbouring areas and districts to identify her.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"20\"\/>CO Desh Deepak Singh said the exact cause of death would be established after the postmortem examination.
