About a decade later, they bought an adjacent 1.12-acre property for roughly $8 million, where they built a second home designed specifically as a wellness retreat.The couple had a unique vision for their home. Dwayne, 67, founder and CEO of senior-living company \u00c1egis Living, and Terese, 66, a retired trauma nurse, wanted to create a space that reflected their shared love of travel, wellness and Italy. People raised eyebrows when they built a piazza, an open courtyard enclosed on four sides and a feature of Italian architecture, at their waterfront home in Bellevue. The structure didn\u2019t make sense to some, as it is in one of Washington state’s rainiest neighbourhoods. \u201cPeople said, \u2018No one has piazzas in Seattle,\u2019\u201d Terese told the WSJ. But they did it anyway. The partly sheltered space allows them to enjoy the outdoors even when it is raining, and according to Dwayne, the piazza creates its own warmer \u2018microclimate\u2019. The couple’s affection for Italy drove many of the design choices across their Hunts Point property. Over nearly 20 years, they acquired furnishings and d\u00e9cor from their travels, layering the European aesthetic into what would become their waterfront sanctuary. The second property, completed in 2024, functions as a dedicated wellness retreat with indoor and outdoor pools, a separate stone cottage and an attached garage that doubles as a ballroom for entertaining. Two private docks provide direct access to the lake. The entire compound arrives turnkey, with curated d\u00e9cor and design elements sourced exclusively from Italy.
