<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\nCHANDIGARH: After his earlier \u2018petrol langar\u2019 drew a large crowd in Chandigarh, social media personality Rakesh Trehan, also known as Raja D King, has announced that he will begin distributing iPhones on September 22, saying the recipients will be selected publicly.Trehan said the distribution will begin at the same location in Chandigarh and will be conducted live in front of the public and media.He said people from Chandigarh and Mohali will be among those selected initially, news agency PTI reported.\u201ciPhones will be distributed live in front of everyone to selected people from Chandigarh and Mohali. The names of the lucky recipients will be drawn in front of everyone,\u201d Trehan said.He said the initial group would comprise 1,000 people, all of whom would be considered for the distribution.\u201cWe had planned to distribute iPhone 16 and 17 models and go forward with newer models, but we dropped the idea as people who received iPhone 16 might complain to Mata Ji, questioning why he or she was not her favourite,\u201d he said.Going forward with the idea, he then said that lucky winners will receive iPhone 17<\/a> models, depending on availability.Trehan also referred to his earlier event in Amritsar, where he claimed more than 3,000 people were part of the group and 484 gold coins were distributed, including 280 contributed by one individual, PTI reported.Trehan also laid down a condition for those seeking an iPhone, saying members of the group would have to write \u201cJai Mata Di\u201d once every day until they receive the phone.He said those who forget to write it on a particular day could make up for it by writing it twice the following day.He said the activity would be monitored and those who failed to write the phrase would not be eligible to receive an iPhone.Trehan said he had initially planned to distribute 100 iPhones in Chandigarh and 200 in Mohali.However, he said 10 iPhones would be distributed on September 22 as part of the initial exercise, with the distribution to be expanded to 10 more cities in Punjab, PTI reported.He said people in the additional cities would be given around 12-13 days to prepare and fulfill the given requirements before the next date for distribution is announced on October 5.The announcement comes after Trehan\u2019s earlier \u2018petrol langar\u2019 in Chandigarh was postponed due to heavy rain.The event had drawn a large crowd despite the postponement, with people expecting free fuel coupons. Trehan had subsequently said he would distribute iPhones next.Trehan has previously said that giving gifts is his hobby and that he gives gifts to people he meets.
