The story explores the property’s history, its troubled condition, the costly restoration and the lasting influence of Trump’s name on its real estate value. (Image: Drew Angerer/Getty Images)

The Queens house where Donald Trump spent his earliest years has found a new owner. The Tudor-style property in Jamaica Estates, New York, has sold for $1.93 million, bringing a fresh chapter to a home whose history began long before Trump entered politics, reported The New York Post. The sale is interesting for more than its price tag. It shows how a house can become part of a public figure’s story, gain historical interest, and still face the ordinary challenges of renovation, pricing and finding the right buyer.

A childhood home with a presidential past

Located at 85-15 Wareham Place, the house was built in 1940 by Trump’s father, real estate developer Fred Trump. Donald Trump lived there during his first four years, before the family moved to a larger home nearby. The two-story Tudor-style property covers about 3,100 square feet. Its five bedrooms and four bathrooms make it a substantial family home, but its connection to the president has always been its biggest talking point.

From neglected property to $1.93 million sale

The house had a difficult period before its latest makeover. It remained vacant for years, suffered damage from a burst pipe and mold, and reportedly became home to a colony of feral cats.Developer Tommy Lin bought the property for $835,000 in 2025. He then spent more than $500,000 on an eight-month renovation. The work turned a neglected house into a modern residence while preserving its distinctive exterior. The restored home now features a chef’s kitchen, herringbone floors and spa-like bathrooms. It was initially listed for $2.3 million before a price reduction brought it closer to $2 million. The final sale price of $1.93 million came just $70,000 below its latest asking price of $1.99 million. Listing agent Joe Zhu of RE/MAX Edge confirmed the sale to The New York Post.

Why Trump’s name still matters in real estate

Zhu said the home’s connection to Trump attracted considerable interest. Some potential buyers were interested in owning a piece of presidential history, rather than simply purchasing a renovated house. That distinction matters. A property’s location, size and condition usually drive its value, but a famous former resident can add an unusual layer of appeal. In this case, the house has already experienced that effect several times. The property sold for $2.14 million in 2017, shortly after Trump entered the White House during his first term. It was later offered to tourists through Airbnb before falling into disrepair.

A house that keeps making headlines

The latest sale closes a chapter that began in July, when the property reportedly went under contract without a publicly revealed final price. The buyer’s identity has not been disclosed in the supplied reports. The house is no longer owned by the Trump family. Yet its walls continue to carry a story that began in Queens, long before its former resident became a national political figure. For the new owner, it is a renovated family home. For many others, it remains a small but memorable part of American presidential history.Disclaimer: This article is based on published reports, including The New York Post, and information supplied for the story.
