Elon Musk<\/a>\u2019s estranged daughter Vivian Wilson has taken aim at artificial intelligence in a new fashion campaign. The 22-year-old is the face of Spanish fashion brand Desigual\u2019s Fall 2026 campaign, \u201cBorn to Disobey\u201d, in which she takes control of a malfunctioning humanoid robot and mocks its inability to understand human behaviour.The campaign is drawing particular attention because Wilson\u2019s father is Elon Musk, the billionaire behind Tesla, SpaceX and xAI and one of the most prominent promoters of AI. Vivian does not name Musk in the campaign, but its anti-AI message and references to obedience have prompted attention because of Wilson\u2019s publicly strained relationship with her father.In the campaign film, Wilson is shown with a robot called DESI84. She uses it as a golf tee, walks it on a leash and tries to teach it to say \u201cDesigual\u201d. The robot repeatedly malfunctions, while Wilson remains in control of the situation. One of the campaign’s lines says, \u201cHe was designed to obey. Not me.\u201d The film ends with Wilson saying: \u201cSome things aren\u2019t meant to be fixed.\u201d<\/p>\n

The campaign contains several lines that have attracted attention because of Wilson\u2019s relationship with Musk. One of them says: \u201cHe was designed to obey. Not me.\u201d The robot has also been compared by various media with Tesla\u2019s Optimus humanoid robot, although neither Wilson nor Desigual has said that DESI84 represents Musk or Tesla. The symbolism is nevertheless hard to miss. Wilson, whose father is one of the world’s best-known technology billionaires, is now fronting a campaign that questions the growing role of AI and celebrates human imperfection instead.<\/p>\n

Wilson has been direct about why she agreed to front the campaign. Speaking to People, she said she was concerned about AI\u2019s impact on the fashion industry because it can take jobs away from creative professionals and also has environmental consequences.\u201cArt is emotion through expression,\u201d Wilson said. \u201cSince emotion is inherently human, AI takes away any underlying intention and replaces it with plagiarized colors and shapes.\u201d<\/p>\n

As per various media reports,Vivian began her gender transition at 16 with the consent of both parents. Musk later claimed that he had been \u201ctricked into signing documents\u201d related to her transition. Wilson has disputed his version of events and said her father was aware of what was happening.In 2022, at 18, she legally changed her name from Xavier Alexander Musk to Vivian Jenna Wilson, taking her mother\u2019s surname and asking the court to remove Musk from her name.In the court filing, Wilson said she no longer wished to be related to her biological father \u201cin any way, shape or form\u201d. She has since publicly distanced herself from Musk.Elon has also spoken publicly about their relationship. The campaign does not directly identify Musk as its target. But with Wilson publicly estranged from one of the world’s most influential technology figures, her decision to front an advertisement questioning AI has inevitably brought their relationship back into focus.<\/div>\n
