Donald Trump called King Charles \u201cthe greatest king, in my book\u201d during the monarch\u2019s US state visit in April. Months later, the tone had shifted sharply: on Labor Day, Trump included Charles in a three-minute Truth Social montage portraying several public figures unfavourably, using an edited 2020 clip that omitted footage showing the King staying near a worker who had collapsed.The montage contrasts clips involving the other figures with footage of Trump. Captions include “the people’s president” and “the side of Trump the media doesn’t show you”, while Christina Perri’s A Thousand Years plays throughout.One scene shows Trump picking up a US Marine’s cap, while another shows him giving a salute at a repatriation ceremony, while other footage features him embracing veterans, greeting law-enforcement officers and comforting relatives of fallen service members.<\/p>\n

Edited Charles clip omits aftermath<\/h3>\n<\/p>\n

The Charles footage comes from a July 2020 visit to an Asda distribution centre in Bristol. Charles, who was Prince of Wales at the time, was speaking to an employee when the man suddenly collapsed. Trump’s montage shows his initial reaction and then cuts to him moving away.According to the BBC, the full recording shared on YouTube by The Royal Family Channel continues beyond that point. Charles reaches towards the employee as he starts to fall and remains nearby while others attend to him in the full video. Contemporary reports said he continued with the visit after being told the worker appeared to be coming round. The employee recovered quickly and later resumed his conversation with Charles. Neither that later interaction nor the period in which Charles stayed close while the man was assisted appears in Trump’s version.<\/p>\n

Montage also features Macron, Biden and Obama<\/h3>\n<\/p>\n

Former US president Barack Obama is shown stepping away from Marine One with a paper cup in one hand and raising the other in salute towards US Marines, while former US president Joe Biden appears in footage from a military repatriation ceremony, where the clip captures him briefly looking down towards his wrist.French President Emmanuel Macron is shown at the Elysee Palace as a ceremonial guardsman behind him appears to lose balance and fall, while Macron remains in the foreground.The post does not explain why Charles, Macron, Biden and Obama were selected for the comparison or why Trump shared the montage now. With no White House response to questions about the video, the reason for its timing and choice of figures remains unclear.<\/div>\n
