The actor had been sitting for a press conference for his film &#8216;Company,&#8217; which had its premiere at the festival, when he shared the news with the world.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"12\"\/>Page Six reported that he shared during the interview: \u201cIt\u2019s dedicated to my parents because I lost both my mom and my dad this year, and they were very important to me.\u201d He later added, \u201cI really wanted to show this movie to them, and I didn\u2019t get to. I think they would have liked it.\u201d Their mother, Christopher \u2018Chris\u2019 Anne Affleck, passed away earlier this year in June after battling pancreatic cancer for six months. Later on he started taking on a string of jobs to make ends meet. <!-- -->After he got sober in 1990, he settled in California and turned his life around, working as a counsellor at an alcohol rehabilitation centre.<!-- --> While talking about his father\u2019s recovery in 2020 to PEOPLE, the \u2018Good Will Hunting\u2019 star had commented, \u201cPart of being an adult is learning that your parents are just people. They\u2019re not perfect.
