According to the Reserve Bank of India&#8217;s (RBI) holiday calendar, banks across a number of states and Union territories will remain closed on September 4 on account of <a href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/topic\/krishna-janmashtami\" styleobj=\"[object Object]\" class=\"\" commonstate=\"[object Object]\" frmappuse=\"1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Krishna Janmashtami<\/a>, one of the most widely celebrated festivals marking the birth of Lord Krishna.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"4\"\/>The closure, however, is not nationwide. Bank holidays in India are notified state-wise and city-wise, which means a branch may down its shutters in one part of the country while continuing normal operations elsewhere.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"6\"\/><\/p>\n<p><h2>Where will banks remain closed<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p>As per the RBI list, Janmashtami-related closures on September 4 are expected to be observed in the following banking centres and states:<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"9\"\/><\/p>\n<div class=\"cdatainfo modify_cdata_list_style id-r-component \" data-pos=\"10\">\n<ul>\n<li>Gujarat<\/li>\n<li>Madhya Pradesh<\/li>\n<li>Odisha<\/li>\n<li>Tamil Nadu<\/li>\n<li>Uttarakhand<\/li>\n<li>Telangana<\/li>\n<li>Rajasthan<\/li>\n<li>Jammu and Kashmir<\/li>\n<li>Kerala<\/li>\n<li>West Bengal<\/li>\n<li>Bihar<\/li>\n<li>Chhattisgarh<\/li>\n<li>Jharkhand<\/li>\n<li>Meghalaya<\/li>\n<li>Himachal Pradesh<\/li>\n<li>Sikkim<\/li>\n<li>Chandigarh<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>Bank holidays are also declared every second and fourth Saturday of the month, apart from all Sundays, in addition to the festival and state-specific closures through the year.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"14\"\/><\/p>\n<p><h2>Upcoming holidays in September<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"strong\" data-ua-type=\"1\" onclick=\"stpPgtnAndPrvntDefault(event)\">September 11: <\/span>Banks will remain closed in Rajasthan due to elections in the jurisdiction of Jaipur Municipal Corporation.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"18\"\/><span class=\"strong\" data-ua-type=\"1\" onclick=\"stpPgtnAndPrvntDefault(event)\">September 12: <\/span>Banks in Assam will remain closed due to Tirubhav Tithi of Srimanta Sankardeva.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"21\"\/><span class=\"strong\" data-ua-type=\"1\" onclick=\"stpPgtnAndPrvntDefault(event)\">September 14:<\/span> Banks will remain closed in Maharashtra, Odisha, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Telangana, Goa, Andhra Pradesh due to Ganesh Chaturthi\/Ganesh Puja\/Vinayaka Chaturthi\/Varasiddhi Vinayaka Vratham\/Chaturthi.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"25\"\/><span class=\"strong\" data-ua-type=\"1\" onclick=\"stpPgtnAndPrvntDefault(event)\">September 15: <\/span>Banks will remain closed in Gujarat, Odisha and Goa due to Samvatsari (Chaturthi Paksha)\/Nuakhai\/Ganesh Chaturthi (2nd Day).<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"28\"\/><span class=\"strong\" data-ua-type=\"1\" onclick=\"stpPgtnAndPrvntDefault(event)\">September 21: <\/span>Banks will remain closed in Assam and Kerala due to Janmotsav of Srimanta Sankardeva\/Sree Narayana Guru Samadhi.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"32\"\/><span class=\"strong\" data-ua-type=\"1\" onclick=\"stpPgtnAndPrvntDefault(event)\">September 22: <\/span>Banks in Jharkhand will remain closed due to Karma Puja.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"35\"\/><span class=\"strong\" data-ua-type=\"1\" onclick=\"stpPgtnAndPrvntDefault(event)\">September 23:<\/span> Banks in Jammu &amp; Kashmir will see closures due to the Birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"39\"\/><span class=\"strong\" data-ua-type=\"1\" onclick=\"stpPgtnAndPrvntDefault(event)\">September 25: <\/span>Banks will remain closed in Sikkim due to Indrajatra.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"42\"\/>Customers with urgent physical banking requirements, such as cheque deposits, locker access or document submission, have been advised to plan their visits in advance and confirm the status of their specific branch.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"44\"\/>However, the closure of physical branches will not affect digital banking services.
