Earlier, in June 2024, Nagendra had resigned from the tribal welfare department in Siddaramaiah&#8217;s cabinet after the controversy had surfaced.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"22\"\/>He was, however, re-inducted into DK Shivakumar&#8217;s cabinet on August 3, 2026, with the planning and statistics portfolio, prompting the opposition to revive its demand for his removal.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"24\"\/><span class=\"strong\" data-ua-type=\"1\" onclick=\"stpPgtnAndPrvntDefault(event)\">What is <\/span><span class=\"strong\" data-ua-type=\"1\" onclick=\"stpPgtnAndPrvntDefault(event)\">Valmiki scam<\/span><span class=\"strong\" data-ua-type=\"1\" onclick=\"stpPgtnAndPrvntDefault(event)\">?<\/span><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"28\"\/>The Valmiki scam refers to the alleged illegal transfer of funds from the Karnataka Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation Ltd, a state-run body under the administrative control of the minister\u2019s department.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"31\"\/>The alleged irregularities came to light following the suicide of accounts superintendent Chandrashekhar P on May 26, 2025.
