{"id":17516,"date":"2026-08-28T11:11:43","date_gmt":"2026-08-28T11:11:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/koshalsambada.in\/?p=17516"},"modified":"2026-08-28T11:11:43","modified_gmt":"2026-08-28T11:11:43","slug":"fy27-budget-disinvestment-target-government-achieves-78-of-fy27-disinvestment-asset-monetisation-target-in-5-months","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/koshalsambada.in\/?p=17516","title":{"rendered":"Fy27 Budget Disinvestment Target: Government achieves 78% of FY27 disinvestment, asset monetisation target in 5 months"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"e9jwa\">\n<div class=\"vdo_embedd\">\n<div class=\"GfdvZ\">\n<section class=\"_bIDB  clearfix id-r-component leadmedia undefined undefined  E9tg9 \" style=\"top:0px\">\n<div class=\"_bIDB\" data-ua-type=\"1\" onclick=\"stpPgtnAndPrvntDefault(event)\">\n<div class=\"ypVvZ\">\n<div class=\"WGttI\"><img src=\"https:\/\/static.toiimg.com\/thumb\/msid-133589564,imgsize-46464,width-400,height-225,resizemode-4\/disinvestment-amp-asset-monetisation-in-fy27.jpg\" alt=\"Government achieves 78% of FY27 disinvestment, asset monetisation target in 5 months\" title=\"Taken together, capital receipts from disinvestment and asset monetisation stand at Rs 62,124 crore (representative image)\" decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\"\/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"Ta7d_ img_cptn\"><span title=\"Taken together, capital receipts from disinvestment and asset monetisation stand at Rs 62,124 crore (representative image)\">Taken together, capital receipts from disinvestment and asset monetisation stand at Rs 62,124 crore (representative image)<\/span><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The government has achieved about 78% of its FY27 budgeted target of Rs 80,000 crore for disinvestment and asset monetisation within the first five months of the financial year.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"1\"\/>The government has raised Rs 55,757 crore so far through minority stake sales in nine public sector undertakings, strategic sale of Indian Medicines Pharmaceuticals Corporation Ltd and remittances from SUUTI.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"4\"\/>In addition, Rs 6,367 crore has been raised through asset monetisation via InvITs.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"6\"\/>Taken together, capital receipts from disinvestment and asset monetisation stand at Rs 62,124 crore, or around 78% of the full-year Budget target.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"8\"\/><\/p>\n<p><h2><b>LIC stake sale contributes more than half<\/b><\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"10\"\/>More than half of the disinvestment proceeds came from the government&#8217;s 6.5% stake sale in Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), which fetched Rs 31,515 crore.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"12\"\/>A 2% stake sale in Coal India raised around Rs 5,542 crore, while a 6.01% stake dilution in NHPC brought in Rs 4,357 crore.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"16\"\/>Earlier this week, the government sold a 6% stake in Hindustan Copper, raising Rs 3,041 crore.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"18\"\/>Other public sector entities in which the government diluted its stake include Central Bank of India, NLC India, GIC, IRFC and Cochin Shipyard, besides Hindustan Copper.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"20\"\/><\/p>\n<p><h2><b><keyword id=\"32873272\" type=\"Denny\" weightage=\"20\" keywordseo=\"IDBI-Bank-sale\" source=\"keywords\">IDBI Bank sale<\/keyword> remains on the table<\/b><\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"22\"\/>The government is also pursuing the strategic sale of IDBI Bank.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"24\"\/>After an earlier attempt to sell the bank failed this year, the government has received revised bids from Dubai-based Emirates NDB and Prem Watsa-led Fairfax Financial Holdings, according to news agency PTI.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"27\"\/>The push to raise miscellaneous capital receipts through disinvestment and asset monetisation comes amid concerns that government expenditure could exceed Budget estimates due to higher energy and fertiliser import bills.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"29\"\/>The government has set a fiscal deficit target of 4.3% of GDP for FY27.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"32\"\/><\/p>\n<p><h2><b>Targets have varied over the years<\/b><\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"34\"\/>The government stopped fixing separate disinvestment targets from the Revised Estimates of FY2023-24. Instead, amounts have been budgeted under Miscellaneous Capital Receipts.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"37\"\/>The amount budgeted stood at Rs 30,000 crore for RE FY2023-24, Rs 33,000 crore for RE FY2024-25, Rs 33,837 crore for RE FY2025-26, and Rs 80,000 crore for BE FY2026-27.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"39\"\/>In FY2021-22 and FY2022-23, the government raised Rs 13,534 crore and Rs 35,294 crore, respectively, against Revised Estimate targets of Rs 78,000 crore and Rs 50,000 crore.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"41\"\/>In FY2019-20 and FY2020-21, actual realisation stood at Rs 50,300 crore and Rs 32,886 crore, respectively, against Revised Estimate targets of Rs 65,000 crore and Rs 32,000 crore.<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a
