Long before she became one of the world\u2019s most successful singers, songwriters, actresses and philanthropists, Parton grew up in a humble two-room cabin in Tennessee\u2019s Great Smoky Mountains with her parents and 11 siblings.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"3\"\/>According to a report by the New York Post, the Parton family cabin was located in Locust Ridge, outside Sevierville in east Tennessee. The modest home had just two rooms, a kitchen and a single bedroom, and lacked both electricity and running water.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"5\"\/>Life was simple and often difficult for the large family. The kitchen featured a table that could seat six, while a washing basin stood between the kitchen and bedroom. A partial wall separated the spaces, making the already-small home even more compact for a family of 14.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"9\"\/>At night, the family reportedly used fireflies to bring some light into the cabin, catching them in jars and placing them around the home.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"11\"\/>The original cabin still stands, although it is not open to the public.
