claim<\/span><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>China on Thursday rejected Nepal\u2019s claim that the collapse of a \u201cgeological disaster dam\u201d on the Chinese side triggered the massive devastation in Nepal.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"1\"\/>The Chinese embassy in Nepal called the claim \u201cfake news\u201d, including an allegation that China had failed to issue an early warning to the Nepali side, resulting in significant casualties.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"4\"\/>Countering Nepal\u2019s statement, the embassy sought to present the \u201ctruth\u201d on Facebook, saying: \u201cAn earthquake or earthquake-like glacier collapse occurred on the Nepali side on the morning of August 26, triggering huge mudslides, which caused significant casualties and left people missing on both the Nepali and Chinese sides of the Gyirong-Rasuwagadhi border region.\u201d<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"7\"\/>China ended its statement with: \u201cAccusation helps nothing\u201d and \u201ccooperation saves lives.\u201d<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"12\"\/>The disaster in the Himalayan region has claimed at least 175 lives and left more than 1,300 people missing after a \u201cpowerful surge\u201d of debris, including water, sediments, rock and ice.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"14\"\/>The sudden floods washed away villages and left a trail of destruction, with roads and buildings damaged or completely destroyed.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/world\/china\/accusation-helps-nothing-china-rejects-nepals-dam-collapse-claim-over-floods\/articleshow\/133557683.cms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>China rejects Nepal&#8217;s &#8216;dam collapse&#8217;
