<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\nLong before Travis Kelce<\/a> became an NFL superstar and one half of one of the world\u2019s most famous celebrity couples, he was a teenager making a decision that could have ended very differently. Years later, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end revisited a frightening 2007 car crash involving several of his football teammates. What began as teenage recklessness left Kelce without a driver\u2019s license and with a lesson he has never forgotten.<\/p>\n The incident happened in Ohio when Kelce was still in high school. He and several teammates were riding in an older Dodge Caravan when the situation quickly spiraled out of control.Kelce was behind the wheel and began swerving through traffic. He eventually lost control and struck three parked vehicles. The minivan, which Jason Kelce remembered as a purple vehicle nicknamed the \u201cPurple Dragon,\u201d was badly damaged and ultimately considered a total loss.The consequences were serious. Ohio suspended Kelce\u2019s driver\u2019s license following the crash.Years later, the brothers revisited the story on their New Heights<\/span> podcast. Jason immediately remembered the family vehicle and the trouble his younger brother had caused.\u201cI had just got my driver’s license suspended by the state of Ohio.\u201dJason then interrupted with laughter, recalling the vehicle Kelce had destroyed.\u201cFor totaling my hand-me-down Dodge caravan from you! It was a purple van with a silver back [door], we called it the Purple Dragon.\u201dThe memory may have been funny to the brothers years later, but Kelce made it clear that he now sees the incident very differently.<\/p>\n Kelce did not try to turn the story into a harmless teenage prank. Instead, he used it as a warning about how quickly careless driving can put innocent people at risk.\u201cFlying around with a few of the guys from the football team in the back. Kids, wear your seat belt… don’t do this, this was very dumb and I’m very glad everyone came out okay, it was lucky,\u201dHe also recalled how he was driving at the time and described the moment he lost control.\u201cI was swerving in and out of traffic, and I hit three parked cars.\u201dKelce later joked about what might have caused the crash, but his account still carried a clear sense of regret.\u201cLong story short, I’m going to blame it on the tires. There’s about a 30-yard f****** skid mark going into these parked cars, I wasn’t going that fast, probably only 45 miles per hour, but it was pretty crazy.\u201dFortunately, nobody inside the vehicle was seriously hurt. Kelce also said the other vehicles involved were not badly damaged.\u201cBut I’m glad I came out okay, and that the guys’ cars that I hit weren’t too damaged, so it wasn’t that crazy on the insurance… but I did get my license taken for this,\u201d Kelce said.Looking back, the Chiefs star accepted that the punishment was justified.\u201cI put everyone’s life in danger, so deservedly so. Don’t do that s*** kids. Be a better kid than me.\u201dThe story offers a rare glimpse into Kelce\u2019s life before NFL fame. More importantly, his reflection shows how a reckless decision behind the wheel can become a lifelong lesson. What happened in 2007 could have ended in tragedy.
