The UFC star quickly adopted the acronym \u201cIGBBMN\u201d after Poirier\u2019s arrest became a major talking point among MMA fans.Strickland did more than simply mention the phrase online. He made it part of his gym culture. His teammates began shouting the acronym together, while Strickland also put it on gear and even spray-painted it onto his truck. The moment became another example of Strickland\u2019s unusual sense of humor.<\/p>\n Dustin Poirier recently found himself at the center of attention after an incident at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The former UFC interim lightweight champion was arrested after allegedly threatening to fight a police officer while intoxicated.The incident was captured on police bodycam footage. One phrase from the footage quickly became popular online. Fans began using an acronym based on Poirier\u2019s words, IGBBMN, which stands for \u201cIt’s Going To Be Bad My N**ga\u201d.Sean Strickland immediately saw the comedic potential in it.The UFC middleweight star began using IGBBMN as a catchphrase. But he did not stop at social media jokes. The phrase soon became part of his everyday interactions with teammates at the gym.Strickland reportedly got his entire gym involved in the joke. The group would shout IGBBMN together on a count of three. What started as a phrase from a difficult situation for Poirier quickly became a bizarre team chant.The acronym also found its way onto merchandise and other items around Strickland\u2019s training environment. The fighter eventually took things even further by having IGBBMN spray-painted onto his truck.The move showed just how quickly the phrase had become part of Strickland\u2019s personality and gym culture.However, Strickland\u2019s relationship with Poirier\u2019s situation has not been entirely about jokes. He initially criticized Poirier after the former fighter spoke publicly about his struggles with depression and alcoholism.Strickland had questioned how Poirier could feel depressed despite being wealthy and widely loved. His opinion later changed after he personally spoke with Poirier.Strickland said he realized that Poirier was genuinely affected by what had happened and was not simply trying to repair his public image.\u201cI spoke to Dustin and he is legitimately messed up by his actionsI thought he was just doing PR clean up tbh.. I guess not everyoneis a POS like me lol So yeah I repent and I am sorry Dustin. Hopebudlight does the right thing with this one.
