Earlier this month, South Korea, the US and Japan detected the launch of a short-range ballistic missile from North Korea, its first such test since late June.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"21\"\/><span class=\"strong\" data-ua-type=\"1\" onclick=\"stpPgtnAndPrvntDefault(event)\">Trump hails Saudi-Turkey-Pakistan defence pact<\/span><span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"23\"\/>Trump also welcomed the newly signed defence agreement between Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan, calling it a \u201cbig, bold\u201d first step.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"25\"\/>In a post on Truth Social, Trump said, \u201cVery happy to see that Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan have recently, and finally, signed the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement.\u201d<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"28\"\/>\u201cIt shows how the Middle East is coming together, and how Countries will finally be able to defend themselves in a more meaningful way,\u201d he said.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"31\"\/>\u201cThis is a big, bold, and important first step \u2014 wow!\u201d Trump added.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"33\"\/>The trilateral pact, signed at a joint defence summit attended by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, seeks to strengthen security cooperation among the three countries.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"35\"\/>According to Pakistan&#8217;s foreign ministry, the agreement is based on their historical ties, shared strategic interests and longstanding defence cooperation.
