Emraan Hashmi<\/a>\u2019s ‘Awarapan 2’ was off to a strong start at the Indian box office. The film that opened amid stiff competition at the box office, emerged on top, by drew in audiences by the number.As per early estimates on Sacnilk, the film earned an estiamtd estimated Rs 21 crore net on its first day, according to early figures. The Nitin Kakkar directorial recorded approximately 45% occupancy across theatres on Day 1 and collected Rs 21 crore net from 9,033 shows. Its India gross collection is estimated at Rs 25.20 crore.The film also raked in an estimated Rs 2 crore in overseas markets, thus taking its estimated worldwide gross for the opening day to Rs 27.20 crore.<\/p>\n

\u2018Awarapan 2\u2019 becomes Emraan Hashmi\u2019s biggest opener<\/h3>\n<\/p>\n

The opening marks a significant career milestone for Hashmi. Before ‘Awarapan 2’, his biggest opening day came with ‘Baadshaho’, which earned Rs 12.60 crore net on its release day in 2017. His other notable opening-day figures include ‘Raaz 3’ (2012), which opened at Rs 10.47 crore net, and ‘Raaz Reboot’ (2016), which earned Rs 5.30 crore net.With an estimated Rs 21 crore Day 1 collection, ‘Awarapan 2’ has comfortably surpassed these figures to become Hashmi\u2019s highest-grossing film on its opening day.The film\u2019s performance is particularly notable given that its advance bookings had generated an estimated Rs 11.36 crore, including blocked seats, ahead of release. Its final opening-day figure suggests that walk-in audiences and spot bookings significantly boosted the film\u2019s collections.<\/p>\n

‘Awarapan 2’ vs ‘Awarapan’<\/h3>\n<\/p>\n

The sequel has delivered a substantially stronger opening than the original ‘Awarapan’, which was released in 2007. The first film opened to approximately Rs 79 lakh on its first day and earned around Rs 2.88 crore net during its opening weekend. ‘Awarapan 2’ has already collected several times that amount on its opening day alone.The strong start also reflects the enduring popularity of Hashmi\u2019s character Shivam Pandit, with the sequel arriving nearly two decades after the original.<\/p>\n
