{"id":12328,"date":"2026-08-14T12:13:11","date_gmt":"2026-08-14T12:13:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/koshalsambada.in\/?p=12328"},"modified":"2026-08-14T12:13:11","modified_gmt":"2026-08-14T12:13:11","slug":"bjp-mp-anil-baluni-has-narrow-escape-as-boulder-crashes-onto-car-near-rishikesh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/koshalsambada.in\/?p=12328","title":{"rendered":"BJP MP Anil Baluni has narrow escape as boulder crashes onto car near Rishikesh"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"e9jwa\">\n<div class=\"vdo_embedd\">\n<div class=\"GfdvZ\">\n<section class=\"_bIDB  clearfix id-r-component leadmedia undefined undefined  E9tg9 \" style=\"top:0px\">\n<div class=\"_bIDB\" data-ua-type=\"1\" onclick=\"stpPgtnAndPrvntDefault(event)\">\n<div class=\"ypVvZ\">\n<div class=\"WGttI\"><img src=\"https:\/\/static.toiimg.com\/thumb\/msid-133239798,imgsize-1038502,width-400,height-225,resizemode-75\/garhwal-mp-anil-baluni-narrowly-escaped-a-falling-boulder-near-totaghati.jpg\" alt=\"BJP MP Anil Baluni has narrow escape as boulder crashes onto car near Rishikesh\" title=\"Garhwal MP Anil Baluni narrowly escaped a falling boulder near Totaghati\" decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\"\/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"Ta7d_ img_cptn\"><span title=\"Garhwal MP Anil Baluni narrowly escaped a falling boulder near Totaghati\">Garhwal MP Anil Baluni narrowly escaped a falling boulder near Totaghati<\/span><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/topic\/chamoli\" styleobj=\"[object Object]\" class=\"\" commonstate=\"[object Object]\" frmappuse=\"1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CHAMOLI<\/a>: A massive boulder suddenly fell from the hillside onto the Innova car of Garhwal (Pauri) MP Anil Baluni near Totaghati while he was on his way to assess the situation following the tunnel accident in Chamoli district&#8217;s Pipalkoti.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"3\"\/>MP Anil Baluni and everyone else in the vehicle narrowly escaped the incident; fortunately, no one sustained serious injuries.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"5\"\/>According to reports, MP Baluni was traveling to conduct an on-site inspection of the area affected by the Pipalkoti tunnel accident and to inquire about the well-being of the victims.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"7\"\/>As his vehicle reached the Totaghati stretch of the Rishikesh-Badrinath National Highway, debris and a large boulder suddenly fell onto his Innova.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"11\"\/>Although the vehicle was damaged by the impact of the boulder, all the passengers inside remained safe.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"13\"\/>The said incident comes a day after a major accident at an under-construction THDC tunnel at Mayapur in Pipalkoti, Chamoli.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"15\"\/>A landslide caused water and debris to enter the tunnel, trapping 22 workers.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"17\"\/>The incident occurred after debris and water entered an under-construction tunnel of THDC&#8217;s Vishnugad-Pipalkoti Hydroelectric Project.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"20\"\/>Seven workers were killed, while 19 of the 22 people trapped inside the tunnel were rescued and taken to Gopeshwar District Hospital.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"22\"\/>Meanwhile, Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inspected the accident site at Mayapur in Pipalkoti on Friday and reviewed the ongoing rescue operation.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"24\"\/>He entered the tunnel and received updates from the rescue teams.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"26\"\/>Dhami later visited the District Hospital and met workers injured in the Chamoli tunnel accident.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"29\"\/>He enquired about their condition and reviewed the medical arrangements for their treatment.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"31\"\/>Dhami directed medical teams to ensure there was no lapse in treatment and that all necessary care was provided to the rescued workers.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"33\"\/>He also directed officials to ensure that families affected by the incident receive all necessary assistance.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"35\"\/>Chamoli was placed under a yellow alert for heavy rain and thunderstorms on August 14. <!-- -->All districts are expected to remain under a yellow alert on August 15, while Chamoli will again be under a yellow alert on August 16.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"39\"\/>Officials have warned that intense rainfall could trigger landslides, falling boulders, road blockages, waterlogging and rising river and stream levels. The State Emergency Operations Centre has asked districts to remain on alert and strengthen preparedness in vulnerable areas.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"43\"\/>The weather warning comes days after a Bailey bridge over the Tamak drain beyond Malari in Chamoli was swept away following a strong surge of water. The incident disrupted traffic and left a BRO vehicle and its driver missing, prompting a search operation.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"45\"\/>Around 15 to 16 villages were located on the other side of the damaged bridge, with authorities working to restore connectivity and essential services.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"47\"\/>SDRF, NDRF, police and district
