When the police signalled them to stop for a check, the miscreants&#8211;realising they were being cornered&#8211;opened fire directly at the police. One Sub-Inspector of the SWAT team and a Constable sustained injuries, while bullets struck the bulletproof jackets worn by two other officers. <!-- -->Assessing the situation, the police immediately returned fire in self-defence.<!-- --> One miscreant was critically injured in the police firing, while the other managed to escape,&#8221; Dinesh told ANI.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"13\"\/>The second suspect fled the scene, prompting a search operation, while a pistol, cartridges, spent casings and the motorcycle were recovered.<span class=\"id-r-component br\" data-pos=\"15\"\/>&#8220;The injured miscreant was immediately rushed to the CHC. After receiving first aid, he was referred to the District Hospital, where doctors declared him dead during treatment. Upon verification, the deceased was identified as Monu. He was wanted for the heinous crime of raping and murdering a minor girl, and a reward of Rs 50,000 had been announced for his arrest.
